Bob Olinger could scarcely have been more impressive as he ran out a 15-length winner on his debut in a four-year-old maiden at Turtulla in mid-November. Hailing from a family rich in winners, his half-sister Myska was a Listed winner for Willie Mullins, whilst his half-brother Feel My Pulse, also won his four-year-old maiden by 15 lengths before being sold for £330,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Festival sale. Bob Olinger matched that feat when he began to pull clear from the fourth-last and had his rivals under pressure leaving the back straight. His superior gears ensured that the three fences in the home straight were the only dangers facing him round the home bend, such was the ease at which he was able to stamp his authority on the race at quite an early point. Negotiating those fence with the minimum of fuss, he was able to cross the line in almost splendid isolation.
