The progressive Russellsway entered the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Boulta last month with one effort at Ballycahane behind her where she finished fifth to My Whirlwind. The daughter of Kalanisi looked to thrive on the soft ground and was patiently ridden by Darragh Allen behind the leaders throughout, she then progressed to the lead before the last to quicken away from her rivals to win by an impressive two and a half lengths. The four-year-old is a grand-daughter of four-time winner and French black-type placed hurdling mare Yamashina. The Bay mare seems to possess more than adequate reserves of speed and she’s likely to make her presence felt over middle to shorter distances on the racetrack.
