Coqolino produced one of the most notable performances of the autumn campaign when he ran out a wide-margin winner on his debut at Ballindenisk for Eugene O’Sullivan who started out both American Grade 1 winner Scorpiancer and recent Troytown Chase winner, Chris’s Dream, in point-to-points in recent years. This son of French Fifteen was clearly expected to produce a big performance, as his price collapsed before the off, resulting in him being sent off as the even-money favourite. That market confidence was more than justified with the performance he produced, as having never been too far away from the strong pace throughout, he made his way to the head of the field after the fourth-last. Turning on the taps exiting the back straight, his relentless gallop had each of his rivals under pressure rounding the elbow to the penultimate fence as he began to stamp his authority on the race, pulling further and further clear. Despite such a strong gallop being set around the testing track that Ballindenisk presents, the sight of just how strongly he finished out his race on the climb to the line is a clear indication of what he may be capable of.
