Getaman is the latest horse to emerge from the notable Colin McKeever and Wilson Dennison academy, and he got off the mark at Portrush when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Portrush by a wide margin. By the popular sire Getaway, McKeever’s charge has improved with every run, having made his debut at Loughanmore last spring. Returning at Toomebridge on the opening day of the season, he looked set to go close, only for a mistake at the last ending his challenge, as he returned in second. The five-year-old stepped up on that effort again to win in impressive fashion on his latest outing. Jumping and travelling well throughout in the hands of Derek O’Connor, the winner came home 12 lengths clear of the previously placed Oscar Academy to provide form to the race. Out of a half-sister to L’Ami Serge and Sizing Cadelco, he has an exciting future ahead of him who is clearly a progressive individual.
