Envol Pierji had a big reputation heading into this race and although beaten by three parts of a length lost little in defeat to another smart looking sort. This French bred son of Martaline came to dispute the lead three-out and still held a slight advantage two out but just didn’t quite match the pace of the winner. He did show a willing attitude and rallied well all the way to the line keeping the winner under pressure. The front pair pulled clear of the remainder of the field which suggests that this was an exciting performance from two decent individuals. The Liz Doyle trained gelding looks an exciting sort who is sure to go on to have a very successful career under rules. He is a nicely bred sort who is closely related to Dorrells Pierji and Volnay Pierji.
