Dundrum Wood put in a very taking performance to win the opening division of the four-year-old maiden at Rathcannon for handler Sam Curling. The good-looking son of Flemensfirth finished third on his debut behind the very smart Fury Road at Dromahane last Spring and made a nice step forward to break his maiden by three lengths at just the second time of asking. Always to the fore of proceedings under Derek O’Connor, the four-year-old showed a nice turn of foot in the closing stages to win going away. Out of a two-time chase winner, this likable sort looks like he could have plenty of pace for a bumper in the future.
