Allbarone made his debut in a race full of well-bred and expensive youngsters, and encouragingly for the form of the race, they all came to the fore, with the second costing €55,000 as a store, the third being a €52,000 store, whilst the fourth was the most expensive of the quartet having been bought for €62,000 as a three-year-old. Never too far from the pace, the September Storm gelding was done no favours by the tight bends on the wider configuration of the Kirkistown track that was used at this fixture, losing momentum after the second-last. To his undoubted credit, he stayed-on powerfully, overhauling the long-time leader at the last with the better jump. Encouragingly, he ultimately won going away at the line.
