Crystal Island made a perfect start to his career when running out an impressive three-and-a-half length winner on debut at Rathcannon. Sent off the warm favourite in a four-year-old geldings’ event, the athletic-looking bay raced prominently throughout until progressing to take the lead at the penultimate fence, quickening clear approaching the last, he never gave favourite backers any cause to worry, taking this contest in stylish fashion. A son of the up-and-coming young sire Crystal Ocean, there is plenty to like about this gelding who was a 2024 Arkle sales purchase. Going forward he looks like an exciting track prospect.
