Chairman's Statement
“In recent weeks at Tattersalls we have enjoyed record-breaking yearling sales, sustained demand for horses in training and December Foal, Breeding Stock sales which have produced figures second only to the extraordinary 2024 renewals which broke all records.
On the face of it, we have a strong market with British and Irish breeders being well rewarded for consistently bringing some of the finest bloodstock to be found anywhere in the world to Park Paddocks, but this hard-earned success comes in spite of rather than because of government support of a genuine British success story.
“Overseas buyers have always been drawn to Tattersalls by the cream of British and Irish bloodstock and we work tirelessly to promote our sales internationally, but domestically the industry continues to be buffeted by external political forces which make it uncomfortably reliant on overseas investment and participation. Just as we court overseas buyers, domestic involvement needs to be nurtured and encouraged in order for the industry to thrive in the long term and the current direction of political travel in this country is a cause for concern. The rural economy is clearly not a priority at present and the two budgets under the current Labour government have increased taxation and business costs in every sector of society.
“While government has accepted the racing industry’s case with respect to betting duty, the wider industry dynamics remain perilously uncertain. We are fortunate that the lure of Newmarket as the Headquarters of European racing continues to resonate globally, but we must also work to ensure that government does not allow the status of a globally admired industry to be eroded through neglect.”

Lot 1994:
Malibu Rising, the Expert Eye daughter of La Chapelle (Holy Roman Emperor), the half-sister to Ghaiyyath, is bought for 60,000gns.
Rory Mathews said: "She was bought for ourselves, and with the black-type under La Chapelle there is every chance the pedigree improving again, it is strong, it is in-depth, and live. We produced the Group 1 winner Caballo De Mar this year, and Ghaiyyath in the second dam Nightime is flying and had a great foal sale as well. This pedigree also relates to Britain, Ireland and Japan, too.
"We will get her home and we will sit down and make stallion plans next week."
(15:52)
Lot 1919:
"She has a strong page, she was put in today to stand out a little bit and she has,"said Tina Rau after buying Kynsa from Byerley Stud for 55,000gns. "I think the page is only get better in the next few years, she ticks a lot of boxes for what my client wanted, we could not get close to anything this week but we are really happy with this mare. Hopefully, she will have beautiful babies and she is going to France.
"My client has a small French stud and has done really well. They were looking for a young mare in-foal to a semi-sexy sire, a winner herself and with a page that would develop."
Kynsa is out of the Listed placed Fact Or Folklore (Lope De Vega), and she is in-foal to Mohaather on a March 26 cover. She is a half-sister to Statement, winner of the Group 3 Concorde Stakes, and to Self Belief winner of the Meld Stakes (G3).
(14:18)
Lot 1899:
"She's for Wendy Miller of Jarosa Stud," said Conor Norris after spending 78,000gns on Ashky, a mare by Caravaggio and in-foal to Triple Time, sold by Norris Bloodstock.
"Wendy sold Fair Angellica last night [Lot 1706, 260,000gns]. She has the farm next to Jenny [Norris] and she loved the mare at Jen’s; she is a lovely mare."
Norris added: "The Triple Time foals have been lovely so far and she was keen to buy a mare in-foal to the sire having seen the foals. He’s an exciting young stallion."
Ashky is a grand-daughter of Panty Raid, who won the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes and the American Oaks, and is dam of Proxy, winner of the Clark Stakes (G1) and Micheline, a Grade 2 winner in the US.
(13:03)
Lot 1888:
the Cheveley Park Stud-bred and sold Apostle, a two-time-winning daughter of Ulysses and sold in-foal on a March 16 cover to Golden Horn, is heading to Turkey and a future date with Torok, the country's leading stallion who stands at Emirsoy Stud Farm.
Family Emirsoy, regular buyers at Tattersalls, was in situ for the purchase – Muhsin and Dilek Emirsoy, daughter Begum and her fiancé Noah Pape, and, as Begum explained, all with individual jobs.
"We stand Torok," said Begum. "We love the Rahy and Pivotal in this mare's family, it goes very well with Torok, who is by Singspiel. We all have jobs here, I do a bit of everything, my fiancé crunches the numbers, Dad does the pedigrees and Mum is in charge of the money!"
Pape added: "The nick should work well, and her cover date is perfect for her to travel to Turkey."
Apostle is a daughter of the multiple stakes race winner and Group 1-placed Heaven Sent, a half-sister to the dual US Grade 1 winner Megahertz.
(12:57)
Lot 1836:
Star Spirit is bought by Paul Fretwell's Melchior Bloodstock for 82,000gns.
"She is going to France," said Fretwell. "I liked the fact that her half-sister Star Of Life is now a Listed winner in Italy, under the first dam there is a Dubawi two-year-old who has just gone to Gosdens, and I like her Ghaiyyath cover. He is a progressive sire, and in France he has a good profile with Fabre's My Highness, there is an Havana Grey to run for her and another Starspangledbanner to come.
"Her sire Deep Impact – there are not loads of them and he was one of the most important sires in the modern era. I am not sure where she will go in France. I have no ideas on covers yet, she has a late service, we will see how we get on."
Star Spirit's own dam Star Of Seville was a Classic winner of the Prix de Diane (G1), and she is from the family of the Group 1 placed King Of Comedy, Rum Charger and Winchester.
(11:16)
Lot 1825:
Say Again, a three-year-old unraced filly by No Nay Never, is bought by Tom Goff of Blandford Bloodstock for 52,000gns from Barton Sales.
"She is going to stud in the UK, I bought her as a yearling for Mr Strawbridge so I know her very well. Unfortunately she sustained an injury to a hind leg in pre-training, which was a real shame, but there is lots going on in the family, she is a beautiful filly and she is going to start a new life as a broodmare.
"We have no plans as yet as regards stallion plans, but we might think about Lead Artist."
Say Agin is a half-sister to the black-type placed Siamsa (Starspangledbanner), and the dam Sliabh Luachra is a half-sister to Mehmas.
(11:05)
Lot 1806:
Desert Spring, the daughter of Oasis Dream, is bought by Alex Elliott for 220,000gns.
"She has been bought for a partnership, we are going to send her to be trained by Mario Baratti in France," said Elliott. " She ran in a stakes race last time, she is a winner, bits have happened since she was catalogued. We will try and make her a stakes winner and bring her back to be the market then."
"She stays well and she is a lovely physical, is a great mover, and, hopefully with some stakes form should be worth more money this time next year."
Second dam is the Listed winner Approach, dam of the Group 1 winner Coronet, the Group 2 winner Midas Touch, and she is a half-sister to Aussie Rules and from the extended family of Albanova and Alpinista.
With a rating of 80, she was sold by The Castlebridge Consignment for Denford Stud.

Today's session....
• Porta Fortuna became the highest-priced filly in training in the world this year.
• Today has been the highest grossing day in European auction history, beating this day last year.
• A record-equaling 11 lots have been sold for 1 million guineas or more.
(21:26)
Lot 1756:
Saqqara Sands was sold for 2,100,000gns by Oakgrove Stud to Stephen Hillen for MV Magnier / M Tabor.
“I really liked her runs at Goodwood,” said Hillen. “She’ll go to America. I think she’ll be good on a turning track and there’s plenty of races for her there. She’s run to a rating of 110, that’s usually good enough to win Grade 1s in America. There’s lots of money there and she’s still young.
“She’s for MV Magnier and Michael Tabor, that’s a bit out of my league! They’ll make training plans but I’m very lucky to be able to buy her. It was plenty of money for her but she’s got a good shot.”
Winner of the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood, Saqqara Sands was beaten just a neck into second in the Group 2 Celebration Mile. First or second on seven of her eight starts, she is by Oasis Dream from the excellent Wildenstein family of multiple Group 1 winners Aquarelliste, Arcangues and Artiste Royale.
It is the biggest result in the ring for Oakgrove Stud.
David Hilton said: "I can't believe it, it is fantastic result for the stud and the Deer family, who have put a hell of a lot into the sport and masive investment over a lot of years and they deserve a big result.
"Saqqara Sands oozes quality as a physical and has a temperament to match, she has a great race record, but I think she stood out as a quality filly.
"We were two generations deep now, she is the first foal out of Royal Star who is a Sea the Stars mare and she is by Oasis Dream, and so it is everything that everyone wants. Royal Star is a young mare, too.
"We did not value her quite there, but Stephen Hillen loved her to go to go to the US. We had some very determined underbidders who we need to thank also to help to achieve that price."
(21:19)
Lot 1753:
a party atmosphere took off at Tattersalls after the sale of Barnavara for 4,800,000gns, the daughter of Calyx becoming the new highest-priced filly sold in training in the world this year, and the many members of the Alpha Racing Syndicate in the ring and at Park Paddocks to watch the sale.
Henry Lascelles took on an online bidder, the two battling through the seven figure sums in increments of 100,000gns, until Lascelles, who was sat on the stairs by the bidders, gave way to Sugar Whiskey Trading.
Barnavara's biggest day came in October when the winner of the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera. She is a three-time Group winner at three and was also three-times Group placed at two.
By the Group 1-producing sire Calyx, Barnavara is from the deep European family of dual Classic winner and leading stallion Lope De Vega. Trained by Jessica Harrington for Alpha Racing, she was bought as a yearling for €70,000 by BBA Ireland.
Harrington chatted to the press after the sale.
"Jeepers! That was more than my wildest dreams, we sort of thought in our excitement that she might might three million guineas," said Harrington. "The bidding sort of stopped at 1.5 million, and I was a little worried but then it went on and on and on and on, I promise you it is amazing.
The filly could be a type to return to training, and Harrington was more than happy to discuss the idea.
"We thought she was only just growing into herself," she said. "She went on improving all year, she is a very big filly, but she is amazing. She actually won her maiden in May, then we ran her in Listed and Group races and she was getting placed and she was not finishing out her races and I think she was going through a little bit of a weak stage.
"Her first run this year was not good, but then it just all came together and from then it has been brilliant. There is more to come."
Of the syndicate Alpha Racing, she said: "Alpha Racing was set up by Richie Galway my son-in-law, Patrick Cooper and Legs Lawlor. The idea is to buy yearlings, race them, have fun, and then hopefully let it wash it face every year, they are sold at the end of their three-year-old season.
"Everyone has had fun doing it, and a lot of syndicate are here today, three people have come from the US! There are 12 shares in this group.... I think for the yearlings we have bought for the syndicate this year, I think we are rather over subscribed!
She was sold Baroda Stud, and David Cox said of the filly: "She looked amazing, she has an amazing race record, she is on the up. There is a lot of racing left in her, and Jessica and her team a great job with her.
"It is great for the syndicate, I have two friends in it myself – they love racing, Dad had not been too well and so I told them to get involved and have some fun – they have had the time of their lives and they can't believe it. The win in France that is number one for them, and they are delighted with tonight. Everyone has got a big kick out of it – Patrick [Cooper] and Richie [Galway] buying her, Adrian at home who rides her out, it is big team.
"It is the biggest result for Baroda in the ring too, it is a great result."
(21:06)
Lot 1743:
Tamfana, owned by Quantum Leap Racing and by Soldier Hollow, and winner of the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes, is sold for 2,600,000gns by owner Quantum Leap Racing.
Tamfana was a Group winner at two and was twice Classic placed at three when narrowly defeated in the 1,000 Guineas (G1) and Prix de Diane (G1). The highest-rated three-year-old filly of her Classic generation in Britain and Ireland, Tamfana achieved a 121 Timeform rating. She is by German champion Soldier Hollow, from the family of Group 1 Beverley D Stakes winner Sea Calisi.
She was trained by David Menuisier and the trainer was in the sale ring to watch her sell.
"It is an incredible amount for money, I would have had 50 per cent and she goes to really good home," said Menuisier. "She will have the perfect life, they also bought the mare and so they have a full-brother to go into training next year – am sure we will have a few boxes available if they wanting to have a nice new venture! I am over the moon.
"I was a bit worried at the start of the bidding, she stalled at 950,000gns! You have to delighted as it is a Cinderella story. You buy horses that that level to have a bit of fun [€20,000], you don't expect to have a return, you don't expect to try and win the Guineas, which she could have done. She has taken us on a magical journey. We can only be proud of what she has done."
Niall O'Connor of Quantum Leap Racing said: "It is a dream, what we also dream of is running the horse and running in some big races. It is no secret we have turned down some big money for this horse over the last couple of seasons, we bold enough, stupid enough and brave enough to keep racing her and to do what a syndicate is set up to do, race the horse, enjoy the racing, it has come to the end now and I am pleased we have got a good result, I think we deserve it.
Eamonn O'Connor said: "It has been the biggest privilege to be on the sale ground consigning a filly like Tamfana, she has her quirks which makes it more fun, but she is such a likeable horse, everyone who looked at her loved her, she came out of her box and strutted her stuff."
(20:10)
Lot 1734:
Porta Fortuna becomes the most expensive filly sold in training this year when bought by MV Magnier 4,500,000gns.
"Donnacha has done an incredible job with her, she is a very good filly, she is very talented," said MV Magnier. "She is a lovely filly , loads lot of quality and talented, and hopefully she can breed one as good as her. Coming here we out a good bit of thought to it, and there is a good chance she could go to Starspangledbanner.
A dual Royal Ascot winner, winner of the Albany Stakes as a two-year-old, Porta Fortuna, a daughter of Caravaggio, was a Group 1 winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes and then went on to win a historic treble of Group 1s at 3 – the Coronation Stakes, the Falmouth Stakes and the Matron Stakes. She was crowned the champion three-year-old filly.
"This is why everyone tries to be in the game to have horses like this," said an emotional Philip Shelton of ownership group Medallion Racing. "For our partnership and for me personally she has taken us to a stratosphere we could never have dreamed about, it is a huge honour and privilege to be a part of the journey.
"You are more nervous before. race, but I was pacing back there, but, at the end of the day she does not owes us anything. She is going to a great home, it will be fun to get to watch, and she is going to be just down the road from Donnacha. It is not often you have this unbelievable race record and then you pull the filly out of the stall and there are nice as her. She has unbelievable presence and an unbelievable mind and I think that was part of the reason she was so successful on the track.
"I think there was the pressure coming in – this was the end of our chapter, our story, it has been an incredible journey and we wanted this to go well more for her than anything, we are so far ahead financially that we just wanted her to have this moment. She has been a queen every step of the way. Horses are just amazing, they can take you to places and experiences that you can never dream about, when you look back you realise how fortunate you are.
"We were lucky enough to buy in to her, it has been a great start of a journey with Donnacha, and we have a bunch more horses with him. We have five yearlings, six two-year-olds, we sold Sharpen well here yesterday. It has been an incredible run we have enjoyed, all of it comes back to the horse, we are just along for the ride, we just pay the bills and get out the top hat! And I put it on before coming here to reminisce!"
(19:53)
Lot 1724:
Chere Darmoiselle from Watership Down Stud is bought by Jon Freyer for Arrowfield Stud, the Australian bloodstock manager standing in the bidders with John Warren.
"We will leave her here to foal and we will bring her home in the autumn here the spring at home," said Freyer. "She has been bought or Autumn Sun, who we stand. We are big fans of TooDarn Hot, we are sending him half a dozen mares this year we love that family and the opportunity to buy a filly out of the family was too good to resist.
"We were stretched to do, we were hoping to buy her a fraction less than that, the ones with those sort of pedigrees you really have to stretch form and I am pleased that we did. We are all about getting these mares with these families and we will probably keep all the daughters going forward.
Of Chere Darmoiselle as a future mate for Autumn Sun: "He is now the leading sire, and he is going to be an important stallion, and with her line, the Kingman line, will be really good and, hopefully, with that pedigree we can breed a stallion."
The unraced four-year-old Chere Darmoiselle is daughter of Kingman and exceptional racemare and producer Dar Re Mi, and so a half-sister to the triple Group 1 winner and sire Too Darn Hot. From Watership Down’s brilliant Darara family, she was sold in-foal to Zarak, who is by Too Darn Hot’s sire Dubawi.
(19:21)
Lot 1723:
Survie, in training with and sold by Nicolas Clement and Frauke Hermans, is bought by MV Magnier for 1,900,000gns.
Second by a head in the Prix de Diane (G1), the Group 2 winner Survie was placed in three further Group 1 races and boasts a Timeform rating of 114.
By Churchill, Survie is out of the black-type winning mare Sotteville, from the family of the Group 1 Champion Stakes (G1) winner King Of Steel and the Australian champion Contributer.
“She’s a very good filly and Nicolas Clement has done a great job with her,” said Magnier. “We’re going to talk to Michael and Doreen [Tabor] and see what they want to do, but she might stay in training. We’ll make a plan in the next couple of days. Churchill has had another great year. He’s a good stallion and is probably the most value horse we have at home now.”
(19:11)
Lot 1717:
Anthony Stroud bid 2,000,000gns for Choisya. Stroud had to see off Mark McStay, standing at the top of the stairs, for the five-year-old filly, but when McStay went to 1,950,000gns, Stroud seized the chance to see the deal at two million and all McStay could do was shake his head at the response.
Winner of the Group 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes and a narrow third in the Group 1 First Lady Stakes when beaten just a half-length, Choisya is a daughter of Night Of Thunder and from the family of Godolphin’s multiple Group 1-winning fillies Hibaayeb and Wuhabia.
"She is for an overseas client, and it is not Godolphin!" said Stroud. "I am delighted to have got her, we had that sort of price in mind and I think she is a good buy. She stays in Europe, and I would love to be able to talk to Juddmonte about a Frankel cover."
She was trained by Simon and Ed Crisford and sold today by Gainsborough Thoroughbreds.
Ed Crisford said: “She is a lovely race mare and her owner, Mr Nabouda was delighted with her career and felt that now was the time to sell her; delighted with the result. She started low level and worked her way up. It wasn’t really until earlier this year that she really turned the taps on and look like a proper filly. She just took a long time to come to hand, in that sense.”
On whether her progression gave him extra satisfaction: “Yeah, I think so. I was talking about it earlier; it is nice to see them come through the ranks like that. Even as a four-year-old, she won a Listed race and came out the back in a Group 3, but she just wasn’t quite there yet.
“When we took her out to Dubai and to that American style of racing, she just loved it, it was the key to her. The quick ground and the turns and the bends. That was the spark that pulled her forward.”
(19:08)
Lot 1664:
the first to top the million is week is Star Magnolia (Kingman) from the Juddmonte draft. She was bought by agent Henry Lascelles for 1,300,000gns, and he was standing at the top of the back stairs, Ed Sackville, who was underbidder, was at the top of the bidders and just shook his head when asked to better Lascelles eventual winning bid
The purchaser's father Hugo Lascelles said: "What a great family to get into, young. She has two daughters working for you, and I like Kingman very much as a broodmare sire. She is in-foal to Frankel, what more can you say?
"The chat is that she had ability too, she is a very handsome lady, too, and that is why she is so exciting! She has been bought for a British owner-breeder."
Star Magnolia was a three-year-old winner and is out of Pavolosk, a Listed winner of the Michael Seely Memorial Stakes, and twice placed fourth in Group 3 races. She is dam of 2022-born Babouche (Kodiac), winner of the Phoenix Stakes (G1), and Zarinsk (Kodiac), winner of the Minstrel Stakes (G2).
She was sold in-foal to Frankel on an April 16 cover. She is third best-priced horse sold by Juddmonte in the Tattersalls sale ring.
(16:34)
Lot 1654:
Determined Stud / David Ingordo adds Sinology to his purchases yesterday, the US agent going to 435,000gns for the daughter of Study Of Man, a winner and Group 3 fourth placed in the Princess Royal Stakes. She was sold by Barton Stud for breeder Kirsten Rausing.
She is a daughter of the Group 1 winner Madame Chiang (Archipenko), the dam of five winners, including Oriental Mystique, a Listed winner and Group 3 placed, and Ching Shih, runner-up in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes (G2).
" I can't come to a horse sale and not buy something!" laughed Ingordo. "We were looking for something a different, she has a beautiful Lanwades pedigree, she is in-foal to Too Darn Hot and we are very keen on him.
"We will leave her here and the other mares here with Simon Marsh at Watership Down Stud, make use of my Lane's End connection with the Lloyd-Webbers, Matt [Dorman] has picked up on that, we will§ probably cover them and then, hopefully, Mr Trump will move on the tariffs!"
(15:58)
Lot 1623:
consigned by Kellsgrange Stud, Eepha, the winner of one race in France, becomes the most expensive sold so far today when bought by SackvilleDonald for 325,000gns.
The four-year-old daughter of Siyouni is out of the Slickly mare Grey Anatomy, dam of four winners, including the Grosser Preis von Baden (G1) winner Zagrey and the Group 2 winner and Group 1 third-placed Graignes (Zoffany)
Eepha was sold in-foal to Zarak on a March cover.
(15:28)
Lot 1605:
Ace Stud buys an eighth lot at this year's December Mares Sale, the young operation going to 180,000gns for Darn Hot Mystery, consigned by trainer Henry Candy's Kingstone Warren Stables.
She is a three-year-old filly by Too Darn Hot and out of Grey Mystere (Lethal Force), the dam of the autumn's Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Gewan (Night Of Thunder).
The purchase fulfils the strategic objectives mentioned by Ace Stud's bloodstock manager Paul Curran after yesterday's first December Mares Sceptre Session of 2025 when he reported that the operation is always keen to support pedigrees that it has enjoying success with – and this filly ticks that box being such a close relation to Gewan.
The purchase is a third progeny out of Grey Mystere bought by Ace Stud – the farm also bought Gewan's 2025 Native Trail half-brother at last week's Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 500,000gns from Overbury Stud.
(14:17)
Lot 1588:
Beauty Salon (Dutch Art) the dam of two winners, including the four-time winner Native Warrior, and a daughter of Albisola, winner of the Prix de Flore and the Prix Finlande (L), is bought by the Oak Tree Partnership for 220,000gns.
She was sold with an April cover to Dark Angel by Branton Court Stud.
Dam Albisola is a half-sister to Johnny Barnes, who finished second in the Criterium International (G1). It is also the family of the Phoenix Stakes (G1) third-placed Givemethebeatboys, the US Grade 1 winner and dual Group 1 runner-up Meditate, and the Group 1-winning siblings Ectot and Most Improved.
(13:33)

After buying six lots today and three in the Sceptre Session,
including Caliyza, the evening's top lot, Paul Curran of Ace Stud said: "What can you say of her? She has got a three-parts [to Calandagan] in the belly, it makes a lot of sense after the weekend, in a way that win did not change anything, but it did put a different angle on him.
"She has a phenomenal pedigree, and there is commercially a very good horse to come from her. We are delighted to get her – we have no immediate plans for her, we will reassess, digest and sit down with everyone, and talk through plans, especially with the boss.
"Town And Country (Lot
1441) was bought for Shaquille, as was the Cockeyed Optimist, the Fastnet Rock filly (Lot1375); we want to buy from some nice broodmare sires for him. We are looking to buy some nice ones to row into him."
"Amazonian [Lot 1442] is a half to our own River Of Stars, and is a family we know well, and she ran really well in the Melbourne Cup this year when fourth. We like to buy into the family again and buy immediate relations, again no immediate plans and we will probably keep her here. We think a lot of River Of Stars in Australia and she could be exciting for next year.
Of the evening, he added: "We have had a busy and quick night, we are delighted to come here, we had the figures in our heads and we were in and around most of them so we are pretty happy. It is good as you can concentrate on some good lots in one go."
Of plans tomorrow's Sceptre Session, he said: "We will see, I am sure there will be a couple in there that will be of interest!"

Lot 1452:
"That was terrifying!" laughed Simon Sweeting after selling Caliyza, the Le Havre half-sister to Calandagan, rated the best horse in the world and last weekend's winner of the Japan Cup. She was bought by Ace Stud for 850,000gns.
"I am very lucky I am on a wonderful farm, that was laid down to grass a long time ago, everything is as it should be, I have a fabulous team and they will do anything for the horses and they do. I am hugely fortunate," he said. "We have got the right horses coming in and we have had some luck this summer,"
He added: "She came here a year ago as a wild card, and we bought her then. There are few of us involved with her, and it is a good team effort."
She was sold in-foal to Gleneagles, the sire of Calandagan.
"When we were talking about her cover, we had no intention of selling her originally, but Richard [Brown] just said let's try and breed racehorse. Still until the King George we were not going to sell her, but things then stepped up and changed. And, of course, Sunday morning brought in a different group of people."

Lot 1451:
Rage Of Bamby is heading to Japan after purchase by Katsumi Yoshida for 750,000gns,
The daughter of Saxon Warrior was the impressive winner of the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes and finished fourth in the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup. She is from the outstanding Niarchos family of Alpha Centuri and Alpine Star.
Shingo Hashimoto, representative for Northern Farm, said: "She is very nice, she well-bred, she is by Saxon Warrior who was bred in Japan. She is very athletic, and is from the dam line of Miesque, she has a good pedigree. The sire of Forever Young is from the same family. We will take her back to Japan now. We have not decided on stallion plans yet, it will depend on results from this week. We are very excited to have her on the team. Her price is what we had in mind, she was on the verge and it is always tough to buy a good mare here, even on Monday it is tough to buy!
"She moves really well, she is very athletic, we like her action, she has a big, should move."
"I bought her in Milan as a yearling. I only saw her on video, I loved her head and outlook," said Peter Kavanagh after selling the five-year-old mare. "And you could see that again today, she showed liked a champ and behaved perfectly. We bought a fair bit of the family subsequently. We bought the half-sister in Milan the following year that topped the sale. It’s lovely to have some of the family, it’s lovely to have raced her, she’s taken us on a fabulous journey. Hot To Trot were great partners and we had a lot of fun together."
(20:01)
Lot 1450:
Sam Sangster Bloodstock spent 750,000gns on Miss Justice. The Justify filly will be staying in training and, as he outlined, will also become a partner for the new National Stud stallion Diego Valazquez, winner of the Group 1 Prix Jacques Les Marois.
Miss Justice finished second in the Group 3 Pride Stakes and a smooth winner of the Listed Upavon Stake and was for a Timeform rated 104,
"She’s been bought by the partners and will go into training with Brian Meehan," he said. "We’ll carry on with her and probably cover her in training. She’s still lightly raced and she’s a gorgeous filly by Justify with a lovely pedigree, so there’s a lot to look forward to. We really wanted to show the kind of quality we wanted to support Diego with.
“We’ll regroup with Brian but there’s a couple of Listed races coming up in December, we might target her at those, or we might think further afield. She’s a fast ground filly so we can see if there’s something for her in Dubai and then bring her back. When Diego gets going, hopefully he’ll fancy her!”
Sangster also bought Galilei (Lot
1458) for 450,000gns, a daughter of Lemon Drop Kid and in-foal to Too Darn Hot and with black-type from the US. Second dam is Airwave, the champion two-year-old filly of 2022, winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1), dam of four black-type winners, including Meow, dam of the champion two-year-old colt Churchill and the champion juvenile filly Clemmie.

"It has been great excitement, Ray is well used to a lot of excitement in business, and this is a different buzz. We really would have ben happy to take her back, but she has gone for fair value. We have only a couple in training and she was the only Flat runner, but we have ten mares at home at at Windgates Stud."
