Lot 452:
another good result for long-term breeders – this time the Browns of Furnace Mill Stud get a fine result with this colt by Shaquille sold for 95,000gns to Yeomanstown.
"We bred the mare Mabinia," said Trish Brown, "but could not sell her. We kept her and sent her to Indesatchel to start with as we had a share in him – she got a winner by him, and she has just progressed since.
"She had a winner yesterday – Sarab Star won at Wolverhampton and was bought back by Jack Channon at the Autumn HIT Sale for 200,000gns."
Sarab Star was a 42,000gns yearling, bought from Furnace Mill by Jack Channon / Duarte / Kilbride in 2023. Lightly raced, the son of Zoustar won his maiden this August on his first start for Jaber Abdullah. He swapped ownership but not trainer at the HIT Sale, and is now running for Chris Wright & Partner and was impressive winning over 7f and off a BHA mark of 92 yesterday.
Brown added: "We decided to use Shaquille because he is a nice first-season sire and was a fast horse. This colt came up here on Friday, and from Saturday morning he has hardly been in his box. I think he will sleep for a week now!"
Mabinia, who is a Cape Cross half-sister to the Brown-bred Twilight Blues, winner of the Duke Of York Stakes (G2), has also bred the Listed placed Just Frank, who is a son of Epaulette and was rated 102.

Lot 438:
Max Ervine, breeder of this Good Guess filly, her dam Fine If, and her grandam Refined, was delighted with the sale ring result of 100,000gns given by Glenvale Stud for the March-born filly.
"Well I have bred the mare and most of the page!" laughed Ervine. "I have had the family forever, and it keeps on giving. Fine If is a big mare and she breeds nice stock, she has been a wee bit unlucky on her breeding record. I sent her to Good Guess because he is a hell of a good-looking horse. We thought we'd get over 50,000gns, but to get to 100,000gns is very pleasing."
It has been a good week for the breeder, who added: "I sold a Sioux Nation yearling for 70,000gns on Monday [Lot 135] – we will be taking a look at a few mares next week!"
Purchaser Flash Conroy of Glenvale Stud said: "I like the Kodiac line, that produces good fillies. She has a good pedigree, looks like a two-year-old and is a nice, balanced filly. I like her a lot. You’re always hoping you won’t have to give as much as you do, but that’s the way it goes. I like the Good Guesses I’ve seen but I thought she was the best.”
The filly was sold for Ervine by AM Thoroughbreds.
(11:55)
Lot 426:
another result for a young sire Mostahdaf – this colt is sold by Barton Stud for 48,000gns and is bought by Redpender Stud.
Bred by Rogues Gallery Racing, the colt is the second foal out of the Dandy Man mare Rogue Missile, the winner of two races. Her first foal by Perfect Power was sold at the Tattersalls Somerville Sale for 105,000gns and was bought by Robson Aguiar.
Mostahdaf is by Frankel and won the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1) and the Prince Of Wales's Stakes (G1), and is a half-brother to Nazeef, winner of the Sun Chariot Stakes (G1) and the Falmouth Stakes (G1).
This colt was conceived off a fee of £15,000, and the stallion is set to stand this year's covering season at Beech House Stud at £9,000.
(11:13)
Lot 411:
the Daymark Stud-offered colt by Havana Grey is bought by Mags O'Toole for 72,000gns.
The colt is the third foal out of the Fast Company mare Lochanthem, the winner of two races as a three-year-old, and a half-sister to Seafront, runner-up in the Balanchine Stakes (G3) and the dam of Diabolic, winner of the Catch A Glimpse Stajles and the My Dear Stakes, Listed races at Woodbine.
It is the further family of the European champion older mare Lochsong.
(10:59)
Lot 405:
the first to six figures this week is a colt by first-season Juddmonte sire Chaldean. Out of the three-time winner Maid Of Spirit (Invincible Spirit), he fetched 100,000gns bought by Denis Linehan.
The colt was sold by Neil Goldie-Scot and Clare Salmon's Apedroc Stud.
"We are thrilled, I started crying at 50,000gns!" laughed Salmon. "We bought the mare here in 2021 [115,000gns, December Mares], she is a beautiful 5f sprinter, a really lovely mare.
"Juddmonte has given us a lot of help, Shane [Horan] knows our mares well and Maid Of Spirit had previously visited Bated Breath because her half-sister Maid Of India is by the sire and is a Group 3 winner. The mare gets good types, and this colt is so pretty – he has Chaldean's head."
The colt has been busy since he arrived at Park Paddocks and Salmon said: "He has had over 200 shows, so he is quite tired, but he has been a real soldier since he has been up here."
(10:38)
Lot 398:
the first colt through the Tattersalls ring by the first-season Tally-Ho Stud sire Good Guess, who is by the Tally-Ho patriarch stallion Kodiac, makes 45,000gns.
Sold by Tom and Noreen Quinlan's Athnid Stud, the January-born foal is a half-brother to two winners, The Kodi Kid, who has achieved a BHA rating high of 87, and The Bear Trap. Both are sons of Kodi Bear, who is also a son of Kodiac.
Dam Dat Il Do is a half-sister to Easy Road, a Group 3 winner and a champion sprinter in Scandinavia.

the February-born colt by Ghaiyyath, the second foal out of the unraced Sioux Nation mare Sioux Love, is bought by JC Bloodstock for 68,000gns.
"He is a well developed colt, and from the Whiteheads who are very good breeders," said Michael Fitzpatrick, fro his bidding spot in the seats. "The sire was popular at the yearling sale, I don't think there is a lot of them around, and he is on an upward trend. This colt should be a October Book 1 or Book 2 type."
Second dam Sonning Rose has black-type placed form as a runner-up in the Chesham Stakes (L).
Consignor was Altenbach Bloodstock.
(16:39)
Lot 372:
becomes today's joint top lot – this filly by first-season sales sire Shaquille, bought as a pinhook prospect by Luke Barry of Manister Stud for 75,000gns.
Sold by Petches Farm, she is the second foal out of Baileys Accolade (Aclaim), a half-sister to Baileys Jubilee, a Listed winner in France who also finished second in the Lowther Stakes (G2) and third in the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1).
"She is very dear, but she is very nice!" said Barry. "There are some very nice fillies tomorrow, but she stands up well against them. It is all about the individual for me, but also I like the idea of the sire. I have a nice one by him at home – he is a boy and this is a girl!
"He is stamping his stock, he is getting some very nice horses, he is a very good looking horse himself."
Barry added: "I try and buy a nice individual, and she could go to any sale."
(16:12)
Lot 329:
is another by Dragon Symbol to prove popular – the January-born colt, bred and sold by Whitsbury Manor Stud, sells for 58,000gns and is signed for by Apollo Bloodstock. He is out of Beautiful Eyes, a two-time juvenile winning mare by Bobby's Kitten, who also finished fourth in the Moorgate Stakes (L).
Fearghal Hogan of the buying team said: "We have bought him with Gary Dowling, and he spotted him yesterday and loved him. We probably gave a small bit too much for him, but we said we might as well buy one that we really loved rather than give half for one we only half liked.
"We just think he is a lovely foal, he is by a good sprinter and first-season sire, and the mare was good, and she had a high rating [BHA 83 at her best]."
He added: "I have seen few of the Dragon Symbols and I like them. I am not sure what sale this colt will go for, and we have a few more to buy over the next few days, we will see what happens!"
(15:02)
Lot 304:
bred by Mildmay Bloodstock, headed by Bridget Drew of Mildmay Farm & Stud, this colt by Dragon Symbol makes 75,000gns . He was bought online by Ballyphilip Stud, with agent Matt Coleman, who was in the ring, the underbidder.
The colt was sold by Jenny Norris of Norris Bloodstock, who delegated the post-sale de-brief over to Olly Nash, manager at Mildmay Farm.
"At home hehas been really straightforward, and we knew he was a nice sort, but it was quite difficult to gauge what he was going to make here," said Nash who was standing alongside Drew. "The Dragon Symbols we have seen have been really lovely and people are confident they are a nice bunch of foals, and this is a very clean, straightforward and scopey one.
"The mare is going well and had the fantastic Sergei [Itsatenfromlen] who came out and won the two races in France. She is back in-foal to Sergei and looks like she will be going back to Dragon Symbol!"
Of the decision to use Dragon Symbol is his first year at stud, Nash outlined: "Whitsbury does such a great job with those fast sires, we are exactly an hour away, we have a lot of confidence in the farm, they have always worked really hard for their breeders and we had a package that year that included some Showcasings, some Sergeis and some Havana Greys, so it felt like the right thing to do."
Of reasons for purchase, buyer Paul McCartan said: "He is a lovely individual, the sire was a very fast horse, the Showcasing mare is a young mare who has bred a horse rated 94 already, it is all two-year-old speed and that will do anyone."
Itsatenfromlen won twice at Chantilly as a two-year-old, was Listed-placed fourth in the Blenheim Stakes. He is now in training with Doug Watson in the UAE and won on his debut in the Middle East at Jebel Ali on November 1.
(14:36)
Lot 300:
the first over 50,000gns at this year's December Foal Sale is the Native Trail colt out of Looks All Right, sold for 65,000gns and bought by Harry Sweeney for Paca Paca Farm.
The February-born colt is a half-brother to Model Guest (Showcasing), who was third in the Sweet Solera Stakes (G3) and dam of the Group 2 Debutante Stakes third-placed Evolutionist.
Second dam Zagreb Flyer is dam of the Park Stakes winner Venturi and Feels All Right, a French Listed winner and placed third in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud (G1). Both by Danehill Dancer, and full siblings to Looks All Right.
"We bought the mare to go to Showcasing, to get a filly so we had an own-sister to Model Guest, we got a filly and she is with Hugo Palmer," said Charlie Budgett. "I always wanted to use Native Trail, and I am thrilled with the colt, he is absolutely strapping colt and did not miss a beat up here. All the people I respect here were on him, which was rewarding itself, and I think Native Trail is one of the best prospects amongst the new stallions.
"We have sold two Dragon Symbol, two both empty headcollars, both lovely types and the stallion e is looking pretty exciting."
(14:14)

the first in the ring today was a New Bay colt from Shadwell Estate Company Ltd who sold for 50,000gns, and the last in today also from Shadwell, was a Sea The Stars filly, bought for 100,000gns by Swan Bar & Entertainment.
She is a first foal out of the unraced Zagaareed (Intello), a half-sister to Baaeed, the European champion three-year-old miler of 2021 and the champion older horse of 2020, to Hukum, the European champion older horse of 2023, and the Listed winner Naqeeb.
(17:11)
Lot 172:
"She’s been bought to race for a partnership in France," said buyer Tina Rau after spending 235,000gns on this filly by Lope De Vega, bred by Gestut Etzean. "I obviously know the family well. She was born on a very good German stud farm. She was raised on a very good Irish stud farm. The mare is without fault. The three-year-old is staying in training and should be a Group winner next year. The two-year-old is exciting too so there’s a lot to like."
The mare is Strawberry (Lord Of England), the dam of five living foals, five runners and three winners, including Sea Bay, a champion two-year-old in Germany, winner of the Preis des Winterfavoriten (G3), and the German Listed winner Samoa.
Second dam Saratina produced the Group 1 winner Sirius as well as the Listed winner and Group 2-placed San Salvador.
The filly was raised and sold today by Rathbarry Stud, who bought her as a pinhook prospect last year for €175,000
(16:16)
Lot 161:
the Night Of Thunder filly offered by The Castlebridge Consignment sells for 180,000gns and is bought by Ghrghar Stables
Ramzi Alghul said: "She has been bought to breeze and goes to Johnny Hassett in Ireland. It is a big investment in a breeze-up prospect, Johnny was very keen to have her and she is by the sire of the moment. Hopefully, she will come back to the Craven Sale."
The filly is the first foal out of the Sea The Stars mare Sous Les Etoiles, a winner at three and a daughter of the Lupe Stakes (L) third placed Nyarhini, dam of the Listed winner Token Of Love and grandam of Mighty Ulysses.
Third dam Nuryana bred the Coronation Stakes (G1) winner Rebecca Sharp, and Fleche D'Or, the dam of the Group 1 Epsom Derby winner Golden Horn.
In total, there are 17 black-type winners under Nuryana's pedigree entry.
(15:49)
Lot 113:
another big spend on a filly by Sea The Stars – this daughter of My Timing (Street Cry) and a half-sister to three winners from three runners, all full siblings to this yearling and all who have been BHA rated 90 and above.,
She was sold by The Castlebridge Consignment for 260,000gns.
Anthony Stroud was the buyer of the filly whose grandam Lay Time was a Listed winner and Group 3 placed, and from the further family of the champion older mare Time Charter.
"Sea The Stars speaks for himself and this is a very nice filly," said Stroud. "The mare’s been bred to Sea The Stars a number of times and all the runners she’s produced have been highly rated. The stallion’s fee has gone up to €300,000 next year, so this represents reasonable value. He’s undoubtedly a very good stallion.”
(14:21)
Lot 95:
the filly by Sea The Stars has been bought as a long-term breeding prospect by Blandford Bloodstock on behalf of Peter Kavanagh of Kildaragh Stud at 200,000gns.
She is out of Livia's Dream, the dam of Dreamloper, a dual Group 1 winner and now breeding in Japan, Santorini Star, who won the Park Hill Stakes (G2) and finished second in the Prix du Royallieu (G1) this summer, and
Marquisat, a Group 3 winner in France this summer, is out of a half-sister to Livia's Dream.
"She is a pretty unique filly, they don't come onto the market that often and she is by Sea The Stars, who we have the utmost respect for as a sire of racehorses and as a broodmare sire. To get into the family is such an opportunity, it is so vibrant and current," said Kavanagh, adding: "The mare is relatively young, and there are two good runners on the page."
He continued: "I am pleased to have bought her and, hopefully, we will race her and then she will come back to the stud. We are in no rush, she will come back to us, will be broken and will get some time, maybe we won't even break her next spring, she is not going to be a precocious two-year-old filly. It should work in her favour and ours.
"It is lovely to have her and to be able to think of the long term."
Consignor Luke Lillingston said: "We were pleased with that, she is not a perfect model, everybody who came look at her realised that but I think it was a good result. Olivia Hoare bought her dam here at Tattersalls for 45,000gns, I introduced her to Ed Walker who was just starting to train. she won her final race, a Listed race, as a five-year-old and she went to stud and has been a marvellous broodmare. Today's price was established by those who have come before out of the mare, most especially Dreamloper who Ed trained to win two Group 1s in France a couple of years ago.
"The mare is not a very substantial mare herself, she is quite lithe, and fantastically athletic, and that is the common denominator amngst the foals out of the mare."
(13:51)
Lot 85:
the Frankel colt out of Katie's Diamond missed his intended sales date at the October Book 1 Sale and made up for lost time here today when selling for 425,000gns to Alex Elliott. The colt was sold Hazelwood Bloodstock.
The price is a new record at the December Yearling Sale for a colt and the third-highest priced yearling sold at the sale.
"He is for a partnership," said Elliott. "He looks a fast Frankel, and I am pleased to get him. He obviously should have been in Book 1 but he got a foot abscess and that needed time to grow out.
"It is a fast family and I remember the mare racing for Karl Burke/she has produced a good one in Dramatised. I didn't think that I would get him and the December Sale has produced good horses and, hopefully, he will be one who can add his name to the roll of honour."
Katie's Diamond is due in the ring next week through the Sceptre Session as Lot 1742.
(13:37)
Lot 53:
Tinnakill House gets a result with this filly by Wootton Bassett, sold to Avenue Bloodstock for MV Magnier, at 200,000gns.
Mark McStay, standing in the gangway, said: "She is a strong filly, and what more can we say about Wootton Bassett? He is a dreadful loss to the industry and to Coolmore.
"She comes from a good nursery with Tinnakill House, and is from fantastic Cheveley Park Stud family that includes Hooray, the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner. She is a nice filly, very athletic and has been purchased for MV Magnier, and he and the team will decide training plans in due course."
The March-born filly, sold by Tinnakill House for Golden Farm Thoroughbreds, is out of Entranching, a two-year-old-winning mare by Mayson and a daughter of the Stakes Stakes (L) winer Hypnotize and a half-sister to Hooray, a champion European two-year-old filly.
(12:00)
Lot 8:
the autumn's leading first-season yearling sales sire Baaeed strikes again early today - this colt out of Aloe Vera (Invincible Spirit), winner of the Height Of Fashion Stakes (L), makes 170,000gns, bought by John Butler Racing.
Aloe Vera, who is yet to have a runner, is from the "A" family of Staffordstown, she is a half-sister to the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes winner Alyssa, the Prix Thomas Byron (G3) winner Alea Iacta, and the Listed winner and Group 1 placed Albaflora.
Fourth dam is Alborada, a champion three-year-old and and own-sister to Albanova.
(10:46)
Autumn Horses In Training and Autumn Yearling Sale
Chairman's statement
“The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale is a unique event and once again this year featured the largest number of horses in training offered anywhere in the world.
"Buyers from more than 30 countries joined a domestic bench of Flat and National Hunt purchasers, all drawn by the consistent quality and value on offer. This was exemplified by the continued success of sale graduates on the racecourse, notably last year’s top lot Delius, now a dual Group 1 winner in Australia.
“Racecourse success remains the key driver behind the enduring appeal of this sale, with a remarkable 173 Group and Listed races won worldwide by purchases from the sale over the past three years. Of those, 59 victories were recorded in Australia, underlining the significance of Australasian buyers, who have again been prominent this week, spending more than 3,000,000 guineas on over 25 lots.
“They have been joined by Middle Eastern buyers, including significant groups from Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, whose burgeoning racing carnivals continue to fuel demand. We also pay tribute to our overseas representatives who have brought a diverse array of buyers to Park Paddocks, notably enthusiastic contingents from Italy and Spain.
“This year’s sale has achieved the third-highest turnover in its history and featured the third-highest price ever at the sale, with Gladius selling for 950,000 guineas to Blandford Bloodstock’s Richard Brown on behalf of Wathnan Racing. The sale also saw a record number of 500,000 guineas lots.
“However, while the headline figures for the 2025 renewal match those of previous years, it must be acknowledged that trade in many sectors has been challenging, with the market not always meeting vendor expectations.
"Increasingly, ownership and trade in British bloodstock are reliant on overseas support, both in terms of purchasers and ownership. This trend has been exacerbated by the current government’s taxation policies and the uncertainty surrounding next month’s budget. We reiterate the concerns raised in our 2024 end-of-sale statement and urge the government to listen to the voices across the racing industry. Without meaningful engagement, the existing business model risks long-term stagnation.
“We now look forward to the Tattersalls December Sale, one of the bloodstock world’s unmissable events, featuring a day of yearlings, four days of Europe’s best foals and the three-day December Mares Sale which features an outstanding group of fillies and mares in the fourth edition of the Sceptre Sessions.”

Rupert The Prince is heading to the Rebecca Menzies yard, a juvenile hurdling campaign ahead of the son of Golden Horn.

"He is medium sized, but very strong, looks the ideal make and shape to make a juvenile hurdler. He has been winning at a low level, but he won two of his last three starts over 2m on soft ground. He is a good-moving horse, stays well and he looks one of those tough hardy juvenile hurdling types
"He goes to Rebecca Menzies and is a second we have bought today – Rebecca is keen to get a few juvenile hurdlers in to the yard. I am not sure who is going to own him yet."
