Lot 15:
By Hillstar and out of Lucy Murphy (Saddlers’ Hall), the five-year-old Melbourne Shamrock was sold by Ballycrystal Stables to Emmet Mullins, who enjoyed success today with the Tattersalls Cheltenham graduate Noble Yeats winner of today's Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle, for £125,000.
Melbourne Shamrock won his second start in a fast-run five-year-olds’ maiden at Ballycrystal from Colonel Nelson (Lot
17).
A €70,000 store when sold at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale from Castledillon Stud, bought by Matty Flynn O’ Connor, he is a half-brother to Barnaviddaun, a Grade 2 winner over hurdles.
His dam is a half-sister to the Grade 2 hurdler Mossy Fen from the family of immediate family of the talented Sound Man, Master Of The Hall and Pairofbrowneyes.
Mullins said: "He bounced out and made all, he had one or two horses take him on all the way and he batted them away. Mags [Mullins} had a nice horse who finished second, the two of them quickened up like two smart horses and, hopefully, he can go on to bigger and better things.
"I had not had anything by Hillstar before, but this horse put in the performance and happy to get him. Plans are open at the moment and he we have not got an owner as yet.
"It is exciting coming to Cheltenham especially when the sale is on and to be competitive to buy these better quality horse is a lovely to be here.
When asked about Nobles Yeats' onward plans he said: "I should imagine it is the Stayers' Hurdle and the Grand National, all being well."
Matty Flynn O'Connor said: "He is a lovely horse, we bought him as a store last June, we gave him one run and he was a big baby a bit green. We gave him a run last weekend on our own place at Ballycrystal, and he did it well. He is tough and hardy, they got racing plenty early but he held the gallop and it was a fast time. He has gone to a good home. Conditions were rough, but we got it done so we are happy."
Of his four-year-old string, he said: "We should get rolling at the end of February, but we have couple of nice five-year-olds still to run."
(17:41)
Lot 8:
Admiral Stewart, a son of Soldier Of Fortune and trained by Colin Bowe, showed promise on his four-year-old debut at Ballindenisk before going on to win as a five-year-old on the January 7 at Tinahely going away to win by 6l from Skuna Bay (Lot
11)
He was a €78,000 store purchase and is a brother to six winners, including the Grade 3 winner and multiple graded placed The Crafty Butcher.
He was purchased by Tom Malone for £130,000 and he said: "Myself and Jamie Snowden really liked this lad. I had to take on trust from Colin Bowe as in the video [of his win] all you can see is about 40yds because of the fog, but Colin said that he could stand by him."
Malone added: "I have had a big winner today by the stallion Solider Of Fortune in Kerryhill – I don't mind the stallion and he has not let me down. The horse is beautiful, he was an €80,000 store horse. They have not had to do too much with him to get him to win, and we get to find out how good he is.
"He has something of a Flat pedigree, and his half-brother The Crafty Butcher was the most incorrect – he was as crooked as a ram's horn but he still managed to be black-type.
"Jamie has had an up and down day today, but he has had a great season and winning the Grand Military yesterday was a great training performance."
(17:24)
Lot 6:
An impressive three and a half-length winner of his maiden at Turtulla on debut, in a race run in a fast time, Old Tom Morris is bought by Hamish Macauley Bloodstock for £150,000.
Macauley said: "He is the nicest horse he re today and plans are fluid.
Old Tom Morris is by Getaway and is out of a three-time-winning mare Caheronaun (Milan), who was also placed twice in NH graded races. He was a €75,000 store from the Tattersalls Ireland 2022 Derby Sale, bought by James with Ger O’Connor.

Lot 31:
Just A Rose equalled the record for a British point-to-point filly selling for £170,000 to Tom Malone / Paul Nicholls.
A four year-old by Saint Des Saints, she is out of the Al Namix mare Daring Rose runner-up in a French Grade 3, a half-sister to the Prix de Craon (G1 AQ) and Histoire Rose (G3, AQ).
Trained by Tom Ellis and Gina Andrews, she won a Chaddesley Corbett four-year-old maiden point-to-point sponsored by Tattersalls. She was bred by Sarah Fox and owned by Yeo Barton Bloodstock with Ellis
It has been a great day for the team – Andrews won the CrossCountry Chase today on the Dan Skelton-trained Latenightpass, owned and bred by her mum Mrs Pippa Ellis – the gelding putting himself firmly in the Grand National picture.
Andrews led up the filly herself, and Tom Ellis said: "She is a British point-to-point, she has done nothing different to any Irish horse. She has gone out and beat the geldings, they have to be taken seriously. People are getting a bit of faith behind British pointers. She has a great pedigree. I am thrilled to bits, and we have had a great day. "
Fox said: "Tom and Gina have done a great job. This filly has a fantastic brain, I think she will go far. We have had her all this time, but it is great result – you can't keep them all and we have others in the family. We hope she will be our flagship now. We have had some success with another filly with Tom and Gina, and this filly has always been so beautiful."
(17:50)
Lot 20:
the wildcard entry Port Joulain, a four-year-old gelding by Cokoriko and out the dual-winning, ten-time placed Mansonnien mare Apple’s Noa, daughter of the three-time Listed winner Apple’s Girl, dam of the 14-time winner and 11-time Grade 1 winner Apple’s Jade, makes £300,000, bought by Harold Kirk.
He was a Derby Sale €78,000 purchase from Moanmore Stables
Sold by Denis Murphy's Ballyboy Stables, who said: "It is a great result, a nice horse. He was gone to great hotel. We has a pedigree and he is a big fine horse, it is good when it works out. He has every chance now.
"I have had a few by the sires this year – I have run two and two have won! I have two more to run."
Purchaser Harold Kirk said: "He is going to Willie's, he was my pick of the sale. I love the sire, he gets the most winners in France – French trainers love them. We had a very good horse by him who won in Navan last week. Apple's Jade is in the pedigree and we bought her in France. I loved this horse as an individual. I think he has got loads of class, he looks a classy type.
"I did not see him run on the day but I have seen the videos and Denis highly recommended him. He has been at the game a long time and wants to do the best for everyone."
(17:14)
Lot 18:
the four-year-old Belliano by Black Sam Bellamy is bought by Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for £255,000. Underbidder was Gerry Hogan.
The winner at Boulta is out of the Prix de Flore (G3) winner Miliana (Polar Falcon). She is the dam of five winners from eight runners and is a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Mirpour and the Swinton Hurdle (G3) winner Mirjan.
Purchaser Tom Malone said: "It was a strong maiden, he kinda got left out of his ground three out and then circumnavigated the whole field and quickened well. It takes a lot to do that at Boulta as the ground gets very heavy there – to go that wide and quicken like that was impressive. We liked him. They don't have to win to buy them, I like to see them to something different in the latter stages of the race."
"He is a beautiful horse and we have had a bit of luck with Black Sam Bellamy. We have a very exciting bumper horse called Captain Bellamy and due to run at Ascot next week. If you like the horse and the performance go with that."
The horse was bought for just €25,000 at the Derby Sale by Terrence O'Brien, who said: "You dream about these things. Three weeks ago and he was driving down the road in the box with the horse in the back of the box and he is one little injury from being worth very little. He performed well on the day and we got a bit excited then that the dream was alive.
"It is amazing, it just happens in the space of five mins – before the race we were hopeful not sure, then he put in a good performance but he walked the walk and when that happens with a four-year-old and he has a decent pedigree.
"I normally don't buy very hot pedigrees as I don't buy that expensive horses, but this fella came at a reasonable price – he has a bit of a Flat pedigree but there are a couple of NH winners there too. He has developed well."
O'Brien is based in County Cork.
(17:00)
Lot 8:
An impressive winner of his debut maiden at Lingstown posting an authoritative performance, Tamuch was widely anticipated to be a highly sought-after lot tonight, and the four-year-old by Buck’s Boum did not disappoint.
Bidding opened up at £100,000 and swept up through the ranks courtesy of bids from Robbie Power, Tom Malone and Gordon Elliott with Mouse O'Ryan, and it was the last named who was successful at £320,000.
"A lovely horse, he is a well made horse e won well," said O'Ryan. "He was very eye-catching and Matty was very fond of him all along. He was sick in the spring so did not run. We had seen him in January and we were waiting for him to run. We have not had many by the sire.
"We are building up a big team of young horse and they are starting to come to fruition."
"We have bought Gold Cup horses out of point-to-points, we have only had one but we'd like another!"
Tamuch is out of the Maille Pistol dual-winning mare Pistol Girl, a half-sister to the dam of the Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Sir Valentino, Tamuch was sold by Matthew Flynn O’Connor’s Ballycrystal Stables, a previous December Sale top consignor with Deeply Superficial in 2022. T
O'Connor, who purchased Tamuch for €65,000 as a store horse at the Derby Sale, said: "This is up there with the best we have sold – we got £385,000 for Deeply Superficial. It is great result he has gone to a good home with Gordon."
Of the pressure when selling an expected top-priced horse, he said: "It makes it easier as you come here and you don't have to try and sell – the buyers have seen him, done the homework, know what they want and they sell themselves.
"We had private offers, but we wanted to come to the sale – thank god it worked out."
Of the horse's point-to-point win he said: "All his work had been very good, we had him in a couple of schooling hurdles and everything he had done was nice. It is nice to see them back up when they get to the point-to-point. All the horses were sick last year, all done with now."
Of Tamuch he added: "He is a big frame of a horse, he was a bit raw when we bought him. He is going to still improve, he is still a big shell of a horse, I think there is loads of improvement in him."

Lot 13:
the four-year-old Oak Grove (Soldier Of Fortune-Side Saddle (King’s Theatre)), consigned by Rob James Racing makes £250,000 and is bought by trainer Fergal O'Brien, the most expensive sale ring purchase for the trainer.

O'Brien said: "No plans as yet. He is a lovely four-year-old, but maybe a bit weak. He will probably go to Jason Maguire's for a bit of 'treadmilling' and a bit of R and R. We will see what we have got for next year.
"We are delighted to have got him, we loved him when we saw him. Sally and I saw the video and thought he won a very competitive point-to-point and he was the one we came for.
"He is for Chris and Deborah Giles, who has a half share in Crambo, who has done well for us this year. After he won the Grade 3 at Sandown, Chris said to buy him a nice horse. We have been watching this lad for a bit so fingers crossed.
"We are very grateful for giving us the opportunity to come and buy a horse such as this. He is the most expensive horse we have bought in the ring – usually we buy four for this sort of money!"

Lot 13:
the four-year-old gelding Jalon D’Oudaires, a son of the leading French jumps stallion No Risk At All, is bought by Gordon Elliott for £420,000, becoming a joint record holder.
He was sold by Donnchadh Doyle's Monbeg Stables.
He won last weekend’s four-year-old maiden at Lingstown, a race that has produced the Festival Sale graduates and Grade 1 winners Gerri Colombe, who finished second in the Grade 1 Brown Advisory yesterday and tomorrow’s Gold Cup third favourite Bravemansgame, winner of this winter’s King George VI.
Jalon D’Oudaires was bought for €75,000 as a store horse last June.
"He is a lovely horse, he came well recommended. These are the sort of horses we want, we thought they were the two best horses in the sale. We do not have an owner yet, but we will have by the time the night is out. He is by lovely sire, we saw him in the yard before he ran," said Elliott.
(19:04)
Lot 6:
widely tipped as a likely top lot, Romeo Coolio did not disappoint – the winning four-year-old son of Kayf Tara is bought for £420,000 for the Keep The Dream Alive (KTDA) syndicate.
Mouse O'Ryan was in charge of bidding, and it is a record price for the sale.
By the retired stalwart stallion Kayf Tara, the four-year-old gelding won his maiden on his career debut at Belclare last weekend, a race that has previously produced a Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and an Aintree Grand National winner. He looks to be one of the most exciting four-year-olds seen on the Irish point-to-point circuit so far.
The bidding opened at £300,000 and swept upwards at speed until only Tom Malone and O'Ryan, standing next to trainer Gordon Elliott and with the KTDA team, were active.
"We' like to win here, we trust Gordon and there is one exam question when we buy a horse – Will it get to Cheltenham? And we think this one will! We are really impressed with him and we are massively invested in Gordon and yard and they have looked after us for four years now. We got lucky very early very early with Mount Eider and we keep on replenishing," said the syndicate.
"We were really committed – we said this is the horse we wanted to buy and we'd do whatever it takes."
O'Ryan added: "I was not there when he won I was a t another point-to-point, but we saw lots of the four-year-olds in January. Donnchadh [Doyle] was mad about him, he is a gorgeous horse, a great example of a Kayf Tara. We saw him as a store horse at the Derby Sale."
Bred by Will Kinsey, he was sold by Valyrian Bloodstock Ltd from Clononeen Stud at last year’s Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale for €92,000 when bought by Monbeg Stables.
(18:59)
Lot 3:

(15:08)
Lot 28:
Leader In The Park, winner of his maiden at Tallow, was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock for £250,000 on behalf of trainer Ben Pauling.
Out of the unraced mare Supreme Leader mare Supreme Breda, Leader In The Park is a half-brother to Benefficient, a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and twice successful at the highest level over fences.
“He’s a horse I saw privately at around this time last year and the Doyles were very pleased with what he was doing then but he was a very backward horse," said Pauling. "He still looks a big shell of a horse but I particularly liked him that day and he did his job in his point-to-point. I know plenty of horses fell around him but he was going to win well anyway. We’ve had to go some to get him but he probably won’t be seen again this year. He’ll get a summer off and we’ll bring him back next year.”

Lot 17:
Butcher Hollow, the winning four-year-old son of Kingston Hill, makes £200,000 and becomes the first six-figure four-year-old point-to-point graduate of his generation sold in the sales ring.
An easy winner of his four-year-old maiden at Tallow on February 5, he was purchased by Hamish Macauley Bloodstock / Bryan Cooper.
Bred by Patrick Cronin, Butcher Hollow is out of the unraced Definite Article mare Kiltiernan Lilly, a half-sister to According To Dick, who was Grade 1 placed in the Sefton Novices Hurdle.
Macauley said: "He was very impressive in his point-to-point and we’d heard good things about him before he ran. We came here, saw him and liked him and he’s been bought for Tom and Bryan Cooper for a couple of their owners who’ve joined together to buy him. Hopefully one day he might be back here again.”
Kingston Hill, a son of Mastercraftsman, winner of the Racing Post Trophy (G1) as a two-year-old and the St Leger (G1) a year later, stands at Nunstainton Stud in County Durham.
He retired to Coolmore Stud in 2016, in 2021 transferred to stand for two years at the stud's NH division at Castle Hyde Stud and is just starting out on his second season in the UK.
He enjoyed a good winner at Ascot at the weekend courtesy of the Paul Nicholls-trained Irish Bay.
